The play showing at the time, I think it was Einstein at beach?, was awful. We left a little past halfway through instead of staying to the end. That worked out well, since we got to take some great photos with nobody else around. We went to Teatro Colon for my birthday in 2024, and the place itself was a beautiful experience, majestic and impressive, full of grandeur. The architecture is impressive, just like Buenos Aires, and the sound is fabulous.
The guided tour was excellent. My guide was very good and explained the opera's history spanning more than 100 years. This is one of the best in the world and it's beautiful. I highly recommend taking a guided tour or seeing a performance while in Buenos aires.
We all agree it's a magnificent building. But be careful about paying for an expensive seat in the back row of the balcony boxes. Depending on the build of the person sitting in front, you might not be able to see much. It's ridiculous that they haven't added levels to the seating so people in the back row can see the show.
We missed the chance to go down to the stalls or stand by the stage, since this is a working theatre and tours can be affected by its schedule. But we got to watch Swan Lake rehearsals, which was lucky. The building is stunning, and the one-hour tour is a must. Unless you’re very lucky, book several days ahead.
