We really liked the empanadas, and the artisanal beer list had a good range, including a solid IPA. Everything we tried was fresh and tasty. The restaurant at Viracocha, not the hostel, was one of our favorite places in Cachi. It has an artsy, easygoing feel, nothing fancy, just welcoming and full of character. The staff were warm and helpful, with good local advice for traveling around the region. It feels comfortable for locals and travelers alike.

After the long drive from Cafayate, we were glad to find a clean private room with a very large double bed and really good service. The hostel is right in the center, but it was still quiet. Breakfast was nice, and they gave us a voucher for drinks and some snacks.

They were kind to the street dogs, which was a good sign 🥰. We also had a lovely dinner, and it was one of the first decent vegetarian meals we'd found in meat-loving Argentina.

I only stopped by the restaurant. The location is great, and the staff waiting tables were good, but the food was a real disappointment. I ordered a pizza and got a dry, hard, tasteless factory-made frozen base. It cost about twice what anyone would pay for a pizza in Salta, for example. I'd advise people to avoid eating here.

The hostel also owns the restaurant, and they welcomed us with a lovely drink. The service setup is a bit unusual, since you have to go to the restaurant, and the person there wasn't the nicest. She was almost getting pissed off because she wasn't there and we'd left the keys on her desk, ahah.
