Rivera Hostel Córdoba

The main downside was the bathroom shortage. With 24 people, trying to plan showers got annoying. Otherwise, the rooms were nice and seemed clean, with trendy, well-done decor. We enjoyed the breakfast, and I loved going up to the roof, where the artwork continued and there was a city view.

I paid more than the amount shown on the page, even with tax included, and the small price difference compared with cheaper options didn’t feel worth putting up with the problems. My room was above the entrance, so I heard the doorbell ringing all night, and it was a long way to the bathroom. The kitchen was dirty, crowded, messy, and poorly equipped. I wouldn’t really recommend it.

The location gets a star from me, since it’s right by the great arts market area. The receptionist, the actual staff member rather than a volunteer, was very friendly and helpful, so that’s another two stars. I didn’t like being unable to bring my own beer, or having to pay 100 pesos just to open a bottle of wine, basically the price of the bottle, because they have a bar upstairs. The offers for hostel guests there aren’t better than nearby bars, which have better beer. And guests have to share the only toilets with all the bar customers. A shame.

We’ve never stayed in a better hostel. Everyone on staff was welcoming and so helpful, and we wound up sharing meals with some staff and other travelers. It’s close to town, the bus stop, and pretty much anything you might need. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Córdoba!
