Cabañas El Amanecer

It was ok.

The owners were welcoming, and the property is lovely. The cabins are neat, cozy, and roomy enough for up to six people. It’s also easy to reach from the main road and close to the waterfront, where the sunsets are beautiful. Comfortable in every way. I’d recommend it.

We arrived to a spotless, bright, tidy place with great heating and strong hot water. It’s on the edge of town, which is handy for heading out on a glacier trip, and there’s a lovely view over the bay. We didn’t use the kitchen or grill, but both were there with all the equipment. We couldn’t find anywhere available in Calafate for that night, and they got back to us right away. Ana was very helpful by phone when we booked, and so was Lorenzo, the manager. One extra tip: it’s a good base if you need to get to Puerto Bandera early. We booked our glacier tour through Patagonia Chic on a Marpatag cruise, and it was a highly recommended experience.

The view of Lake Argentino is beautiful, the Wi-Fi works perfectly, and every cabin has its own grill. The owners are friendly and very helpful, and the value for money is excellent. We’d definitely come back.
