After the hotel responded, I’m adding this edit to discourage others from booking here. Kalenshen Calafate has failed to update its listings on sites like vio and Agoda, leaving its address wrong. I ended up at the wrong hotel on the other side of the city and spent a nightmare evening helping Vio support investigate for 3 hours. The new hotel told me Kalenshen Calafate had changed address and wasn’t cooperating with listing services to correct it. I later spoke with several employees at the hotel now in Kalenshen Calafate’s old address. They said Kalenshen Calafate had been notified to change its addresses on Vio, Google, and other services but clearly hadn’t. I own a Google business account, and it’s not difficult to do. It looks as if they’re trying to benefit from the new hotel’s strong brand, its great spa facilities, and modern rooms by confusing tourists through mixed up Google and vio profiles showing the address and facilities for both hotels. I got a refund through vio. Its support investigated for 2.5 hours and said they corroborated the information. This is what vio support wrote about Kalenshen Calafate Hotel: “Hello Gerodie, Thank you for your patience. We have received a feedback from our partner that they are also investigating what happened and is in coordination with the hotel directly. As you said, they're scamming tourists and we do not want this to happen to others. The investigation time may take up to 48H but again, as soon as we have a response, we will let you know.” You’re responsible for what Google lists. Make a Google business profile and update the hotel address, along with other portals where you accept bookings. Amateurs. Don’t support this type of business. The new hotel at the old address had told me about the issue, and I had to help Vio support with an investigation that took about 2.5 hours. I got my refund from Vio. Thanks for ruining my evening. The hotel seems to be trying to take advantage of the better hotel’s brand.

I knew the hotel was up a steep hill and about a 25-30 minute walk from town center, and I wanted somewhere quieter. The staff were great.

We had a lovely, quiet stay from November 4th to 7th, 2025, in a clean, well-heated hotel with a very family-friendly atmosphere. The staff were so kind, especially Carolina and Julián, who are wonderful people. Just be aware that it’s NOT in the city center. It’s about three blocks from the main avenue, up a tiring hill that could be hard for people who aren’t used to it or for older guests. From the avenue you’re near the Calafate sign and waterfront, but the actual “center” is about ten blocks away. There are some shops and businesses along the avenue near the hotel. Turning left as you walk down to the avenue, you’ll find Don Luis Bakery, which has delicious treats. Breakfast is mostly sweet and homemade. I’d add savory things like cream cheese, a butter croissant, or ham and cheese slices for toast. It’s really nice that the hotel lets guests use the facilities to have dinner, heat food they bring, store things in the fridge, and use the dishes. A couple of things need attention. The curtains in our room were practically held up by wire, so I’d fix them properly before they come undone for someone else. The water pressure was very weak, and you had to be quite agile to get it working properly. We also had a power outage and there wasn’t even an emergency light. They should have something ready in case that happens again, definitely not candles, which are really dangerous. Aside from that, we had a wonderful experience!

The location is very good, though anyone walking should know there’s a significant uphill climb to reach it. The rooms were comfortable, well ventilated, and had parking. Reception and breakfast service were excellent, and the staff were always attentive and available. For breakfast, I’d add fruit and some protein since there’s a lot of flour, though the variety is good. The shower was just a trickle because the water pressure was poor. They did offer us another room, and someone from maintenance came to check the problem.

Caro at reception was so friendly and helpful, and the whole hotel has a welcoming, home-like warmth. The only downside was how easily you could hear noise from other rooms. Otherwise, everything was excellent.
