Hotel Regina

The room's only good point was the air conditioning. The double beds were tiny, low quality, and sagged, while the pillows were thin and old. Sheets were torn, and the single beds had broken springs. The advertising was misleading, the dining room windows filthy, and the bathrooms old and ugly, nothing like the photos. Breakfast was awful, with weak coffee, and the receptionist provided no service.

The receptionists were lovely, attentive, and kind, but the place itself left a lot to be desired. The hotel is very old and needs a lot of maintenance. Our room was dirty, the bed was ancient and the mattress sagged, and the bathroom was broken, nothing like the photos, and so cramped you could barely get in. From what we saw around the city, all the hotels seemed pretty neglected and in need of renovation.

We only managed two nights, which is why we got through it. This felt more suited to business trips than a vacation. Our trip was carefully planned, and we checked several hotels for two things: parking and being near the port so we could easily cross to Alberdi, Paraguay. Given this was supposedly in the heart of Formosa's tourist area, we didn't expect the room to be like this. The room had no available outlets, which still amazes me. Most people just want to charge a phone, maybe a laptop. The TV was crooked, and the key doubled as the air conditioning remote, which only let you switch it on or off. The bathroom was right beside the bed, smelled nauseating, and was so tiny it felt infernal. Its door was completely rotten, and the bidet didn't work. The skylight was coated in grime that must have been there before Gildo became governor of the province. The bed was one of the worst I've slept in, and the pillows felt like two slices of cold cuts. The parking we picked was just a corner under a shade structure, with room for only two vehicles. Its gate had no lock or other security. Breakfast was included and adequate for what it offered, but when we went down around 9 am on the first day, there was hardly anything left and nobody keeping an eye on replenishing it. Service was disappointing too. I'd only suggest it for one night if you're going to Alberdi and want to leave your things somewhere safe, rather than having to return to where you live at night.

I always enjoy coming back. The staff and the lady who managed the place were so kind. My room had air conditioning and an incredibly comfortable bed. I loved the milanesa at dinner and highly recommend it! 😊
