Casa Del Tantanakuy

Once we found it, the place was really cool. It was a little hard to locate at first because it's built in several stages. The rooms have patios, and everything was nice and clean. It's close to the center, though a few minutes uphill. Breakfast starts late, at 8:30, but that's understandable since it's run by a young couple with kids.

We booked through Booking.com, and this was a terrible experience. The morning we were due to check in, they called to ask our arrival time. We said around 1, then struggled to find the place because the location is awful and it's very hard to locate. We arrived at 1:20 pm, and the place was empty, locked up, with nobody at reception or anywhere else. We had no phone signal, but eventually managed to call. The girl said she'd left because we hadn't arrived on time, which was just unbelievable. When she finally came back, she opened a room and said that was it. It looked nothing like the Booking.com photo. She had her backpack on and seemed ready to leave again immediately. We felt like an inconvenience, even though we arrived pretty much when we'd said we would. The room had bunk beds, and there were four adults in our group. When we asked for another room, she said no. We then asked if we could look elsewhere, and she said yes but would charge us 50% of the booking. We explained that it wasn't what we'd booked, and eventually she said it was okay and she'd talk to the owner so we wouldn't be charged. Then she walked away. Later, they claimed payment through Booking.com. Luckily, I'd already explained everything to Booking.com, and we found a solution. We stayed elsewhere, of course. Kuntur Wasi was a similar price with better service and location, and I highly recommend it.

We'd booked through Booking.com, but when we arrived the owner said there was no room because of the booking. She hadn't contacted us at all, not by WhatsApp, email, or anything. She suggested a different hotel belonging to a friend, but we never found it and ended up going somewhere else. Too bad.

The views are great, the bar is great, and the staff are lovely. The rooms are simple but beautiful. Probably the best place to stay in Humahuaca. We'll be back! Thank you, Clara! ♥️
