I’m an Aussie, and this is an unsolicited review. I happened upon the place while driving from Argentina to Chile, and it turned out to be one of my best experiences in Argentina. Matias runs an underrated hostel and bar filled with artwork he’s painstakingly made. He paints and sculpts, and he’s also a devoted husband and father. To me, he’s one of Argentina’s greatest young treasures, an incredibly energetic person. Stay here for a few days while you enjoy Mendoza. It’s very affordable, and I promise you won’t regret it, whether you’re young or old.

We felt at home at Lemon Tree. The rooms were clean and comfy, breakfast was good, and the people treated us like family. There was a BBQ every night, with lots of laughs and conversation, and everyone was ready to help whenever we needed something. We even left our next destination to come back for another night.

Matias was so friendly, and his English is better than my Spanish, so he could help me with all my questions. The hostel itself is phenomenal, with beautiful artwork everywhere and a friendly atmosphere. It’s still new and taking a while to get noticed, but I’m sure in a few years it’ll be THE place to stay in Mendoza. During my time in the country, I’ve only come across a small handful of old-school hostels where the owner really loves having guests. If this place were full, it’d make the best organic party hostel.

There’s a lovely garden and loads to do outside: a pool, ping pong, and a pool table. There’s even a llama, sheep, and two beautiful dogs. The relaxed, fun vibe seems to draw good people, too. Mati and his team are welcoming, friendly, and make everything easy. It’s clean and well run. The hostel is a bit outside Mendoza, but you can hire bikes there to explore the region. Mati also arranges outings like water rafting and visits to the thermal baths. Well worth a visit! Hannah x
