Hotel Shelter

The owners are friendly and attentive, and the pool is very nice. The rooms are pleasant, but the hotel could use a facelift and more care. It’s clearly an older property. We were without hot water for a few minutes one day; the 14-inch CRT TV had intermittent service, and the Wi-Fi was unreliable. Breakfast is limited: two croissants and one drink per person, with a choice of coffee with milk, tea, hot chocolate, or black coffee, plus several pieces of toast, butter, and jam. Towels are changed every two days and sheets daily. Soap is provided only on the arrival day, with no shampoo or conditioner, and we always had to ask for toilet paper because none was supplied.

We came as a family of four hoping for a few peaceful days, but left after one night because the room was unfit for guests. The mattress and bed had mold, the curtains were filthy and mildewed, the walls were damp and moldy, there were spiders on the ceiling and cobwebs behind the bed, and a cockroach was on the floor. This is about basic hygiene and health, not luxury or a five-star stay, and the place didn’t meet even that minimum. We reported it, and the response was appalling. The owner’s son made inappropriate comments and brushed off the problem as if pests were normal. There was no responsibility or respect for us. Even after we had to leave, they refused to give us a full refund. A real disgrace. We lost time, money, and peace of mind. If you want a relaxing family stay, avoid this hotel. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

We had a wonderful six-day stay last week with my daughters, despite having some doubts after reading the reviews before booking. The family running the place is incredibly friendly, and the pool is a bonus. Everything was clean and well maintained, though it is a bit dated and the mattresses aren’t the most comfortable. You can eat your own food in the dining room for a small fee, and they keep it in the refrigerator. The Wi-Fi is weak in the rooms and better in the dining room. The shower has no screen, so you have to dry the bathroom afterward, which was about the only real downside. The value for money was what we expected. Highly recommended. Some friends are already going next month, and we’ll be back. Thank you.

My student was in bed for just 20 minutes and got bitten by fleas. I’ll upload the photos below. We left without spending a single night there, and they refused to refund our money. The moment we walked in, there was a damp, dirty smell, and the towels were used and damp when we tried to wash our faces. The sheets were old and worn, and the mattress made you collapse in defeat as soon as you lay down. Terrible experience. NOT AT ALL.
