NH Gran Hotel Provincial

Service was great, polite, and dedicated. The rooms are big and the beds are great, though the paint could use work. The showers are too low, and I hit my head on them several times. It's a grand hotel that seems to have come back to life after decades of neglect. The halls feel huge and somehow empty.

The history and nostalgia come through, especially in the impressive breakfast room and the classic architecture. The location is fantastic, with direct access to the beach and pool. Service was excellent, and the staff seemed very motivated. A massage was also good value for money. The place needs a lot of investment and upkeep. Rooms lack attention to detail, the whole hotel needs a major upgrade, and the gym does too. We used it a few times, and even basic items were missing. I'd still recommend it for a nice beach experience.

We arrived expecting the lovely place shown in the online photos and were shocked by what we found. The whole area was covered in graffiti, not the good kind, and felt like a homeless shelter. People were sitting around drinking and panhandling everywhere. Those pictures must have been taken years ago. It was a dump, nothing like the photos at all.

The location was the only good thing about our stay at NH Provincial. At the official rate of 200USD a night (!!), the experience was terrible. The hotel feels extremely overpriced from every angle, especially given Argentina's economic situation. They have a beautiful historic building in a central spot, but don't seem to make an effort to help guests or invest in improvements. I won't return, and I think you'd be better off spending your money elsewhere. Our rooms were old and cold, with unstable old spring mattresses. Both our room and our friends' room had clogged toilets after just a few uses. Breakfast was included, but eggs and espresso cost extra, and there was no drinking water in the room. They wouldn't let us change from two twin beds to one large bed. When we needed a taxi, they only gave us a phone number and wished us luck, without helping further. We also asked for a late checkout and were quoted 7000 pesos (70 USD), supposedly a favor because it usually costs much more. We didn't pay, as we'd already given them enough money.
