Hotel Lido

The staff are friendly and the location is good, but the hotel is run down. We had to ask to move out of our first room because the damp smell was unbearable, and they did move us. In the next room, the bathroom leaked so badly it was impossible to sleep, and my mother-in-law's room had the same issue. You can hear everything from the other rooms, the water pump, hallway sounds, and cars. The shower area gets completely wet too. It's awful.

The only good things for me were the location and the strong hot water in the shower. Breakfast wasn't even acceptable enough to make up for how expensive the hotel is given how little has been invested in it. There's no air conditioning, mini-fridge, microwave, or smart TV. Wi-Fi didn't reach my room, and there was no water dispenser; they even charge to fill a water bottle. The receptionist's service was poor, and there's no phone to reach them. Washing machines made constant noise, especially early in the morning. They were in room 109, but sounded right beside me. The bathroom is very narrow, with no shower enclosure, so everything gets wet. The place doesn't look bad, but lots of things need fixing, including leaks and a stuck bathroom door.

The breakfast was filling and I really liked it: toast with cheese, dulce de leche and butter, pastries including half-moons, dark cake and pastry cream, plus pasta frola that tasted very good and homemade. There was also strawberry and vanilla yogurt, coffee, hot chocolate made with cocoa powder, and cereal. The staff serving us were polite and attentive, housekeeping was good, and the towels we left on the floor were replaced. I booked the Lido Hotel through Booking.com. The site takes card details as a deposit, but full payment is made at check-in. We paid 90,000 for two nights. The price seemed reasonable, though I might have found a better deal elsewhere. The location is great, several blocks from the center and a few from Bristol Beach. We slept well on the double bed, which looked like a box spring. The room's sheets, blankets, TV, and furniture were a bit old and could use updating. The sliding bathroom door's wood was damaged, and there were damp stains on the walls. The shower worked fine, though it's small. The window ventilated and cooled the room very well, which was nice for relaxing. There was no air conditioning, Smart TV, or minibar, though there was a 20-inch LED TV. I was only there for two nights, and I'm writing this on the trip home. I'd come back; I had a great time.
