La Rufina Bed and Breaktast

The location is hard to beat, just one block from Aristides Street with all its bars and restaurants. Belén is very friendly, though, as other reviews say, she isn't always available. A hot and cold water dispenser for mate would be a nice addition. The house is lovely and well maintained, with large rooms, comfortable mattresses, air conditioning, and nice bathrooms with good shower pressure.

We were told we could check in at 7:00 PM, the time that worked best for the owner, which already seemed strange. When we got there, the door was closed. Thirty minutes later, she sent a cancellation message. Then someone using an unfamiliar number contacted us to ask if we wanted to stay with them. Sharing a phone number without permission isn't okay. This person manages multiple apartments. I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone looking for something authentic and reliable.

It's a quiet, well-kept old house, with the characteristic creak of historic doors. The owner is helpful and greets you politely, but isn't at reception. This is really just bed and breakfast, a place to sleep before going out for the day. They only provide breakfast, and there's no one in the kitchen during the day to ask for hot water or anything else. They don't offer more than they advertise.

Belén is a gem, and looked after the old house so well. From the first minute she was attentive and made us feel at home. My partner and I stayed a week, and it was a perfect 10. The rooms, beds, and pillows were cozy; the spacious bathroom had everything we needed, and everything was spotless whenever we came back. We chose a room with a private bathroom, though I understand shared bathrooms are also an option. Breakfast was very good. The house exceeded what I expected from the website. The location is great, one block from Arístides Street with its many bars and restaurants, and a few blocks from Independence Park, where one of the city tour hop-on hop-off bus stops is. It's a lovely, quiet neighborhood. I'd definitely return and highly recommend it!
