Iguazú Falls Hostel Sweet

For $15 USD a night, this place is great value. I’m not sure why its rating is so low. The Ensuite Room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed, and the staff were kind and helpful. It’s close to everything, and the big common areas include a pool. I didn’t try it, but it looked nice.

The staff were friendly and helpful, though their English was limited. The room was the problem: it didn’t look clean and badly needed repairs. The very old, mouldy mattress had no bottom sheet, so we slept above the covers. The shower didn’t work, the toilet leaked, and there was mold on the walls. We stayed only one of our two nights, after arriving late the first night. We didn’t ask for a refund for the last night; we just wanted to leave. Wouldn’t recommend.

The staff were nice and helpful, but the room was horrible. Everything felt wet, dirty and mouldy, and it had a smell. The sheets looked and smelled as if they hadn’t been washed in weeks. It was cheap, sure, but not having a wet, mouldy mattress shouldn’t be something you have to pay extra for. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The staff were very friendly, and after I posted a negative review they got in touch to say they would have moved us to another room. But the humidity and mold were so intense that we left after the first night. Even allowing for the low price and expecting no luxury, this shouldn’t happen in any room. It felt dangerous to our health.
