Pirayu Lodge Resort

Breakfast was a highlight, especially the medialunas, which were better than average. We only stayed one night, and the hotel fit our needs well. The room was very spacious. The Wi-Fi barely worked, and the bathroom towels had a slight musty, closet-like smell. Both issues seem easy for the hotel to fix.

We spent four nights here and had a fantastic time. It seems geared toward Argentinian families, and hardly anyone spoke English, but we managed with our limited Spanish. The food is available all day from a broad menu, and the evening steaks were gorgeous. The location is handy for 3 Frontiers Park, with an easy walk along a fairly quiet road; small shops across from the hotel sold snacks and drinks. We also enjoyed the pool, outdoor deck and tennis court. Our room was basic but had everything we needed, including a fridge, safe and air conditioning.

I wish I could give this place five stars, but the street at the entrance, AVENIDA Tres Fronteras, felt unsafe to me because there were many homeless people there. It was worse if you wanted to eat across the street. Doña Ana has all its tables outside, leaving no room to walk, and homeless people on the opposite corner were pulling garbage from trash bags. I found it disgusting and disturbing to see people smoking weed there all the time, and felt the hotel owner should address security if they want to serve guests from around the world. A sad waste of my money.

The staff put in 100 percent to help us, whether or not they spoke English. We didn't try the resort amenities like the tennis, pool or spa, but liked everything else: the rooms, breakfast and terrific location. We'll definitely stay here again when we return to Iguazú falls.
