I’ve never experienced such blatant abuse and discrimination. I have nothing bad to say about the woman at reception, but the man was truly indecent. If you don’t speak Spanish, stay away unless you want to be verbally abused. I paid for two nights when I arrived. There were problems with the locks on both my room door and, worse, the main gate. I could sometimes manage after a few minutes, but never without help. That first evening, I spent about five minutes trying to open the gate before the man, who I assume was the owner, came and unlocked it. I struggled with my room door too. Then I went to reception to ask for soap because there wasn’t any, and to ask if he could wake me the next morning in case my phone alarm failed. I’d booked a day tour, and the bus was meant to pick me up there. They told me to wait in reception, so I wrote down 7:30 for him. I only know a few words in Spanish. I also had a translation app, but it needed internet, and the Wi-Fi was so weak I could barely use it. I did my best in Spanish, and he knew a few English words, so we managed to communicate. He knocked on my door at 6:55 the next morning. I wasn’t happy to be woken early, but I wasn’t going to complain. The Wi-Fi happened to work, so I tried talking to him and wondered if my clock was wrong. I asked, “Why did you wake me up 35 minutes early?” His reaction was unbelievable. He shouted at me in Spanish and waved the piece of paper with the time in my face. I checked his clock, and the time was right. He had woken me 35 minutes before I’d asked, exactly as written on the paper he was rudely waving at me. I was in shock. He ran around the garden shouting “Good-bye.” I’d only stayed one night, even though I’d paid for two. I tried to ask what he meant, but he shushed me and waved toward the rooms, gesturing that his Spanish-speaking guests were asleep, while continuing to shout at me. He seemed to understand what I was saying, though. He took money from his pocket and nearly shoved me toward my room, yelling, “Out! Out! Out of my hostel! Now! Get your things and out! Out! Out!” I’m not exaggerating. I was so scared and shocked I couldn’t even cry. He grabbed the keys from my hand and still struggled to open my door. I quickly packed my things. He was practically harassing me out of the gate and nearly threw the money for one night in my face. His last words, before slamming the door behind me, were, “Never come back! This hostel is for Spanish only, not English!” Fortunately, my bus was running a bit late, so I didn’t miss it. With tears in my eyes, I told everyone on the bus what had happened. I didn’t know what to do. Once the shock passed, I was just in tears. Our English-speaking guide was very kind. She told me to relax, take the tour, and then go to the tourist office to find somewhere else to stay and make a complaint. That’s what I did. I still had to return because I’d left a few things there while under that abusive pressure. I only went back after a tourist office worker called them. I was very scared to see him again, but he was sitting there as if nothing had happened while the woman took me to collect my forgotten things. That was my unfortunate experience there. Keep away from them!

Cynthia was very friendly, and the price was reasonable. The hostel is in an excellent location, well kept, simple, and quiet, with a lovely garden of plants and grass. There’s parking and a shared barbecue area. My room was comfortable, the bathroom was fine, and all the amenities worked properly.

The owner was super friendly and even took us around so we could see the coast. We’re really grateful! The place was nice and comfortable, good for a quick rest before continuing on or, as we did, for staying a few days.

I stayed there in 2018 and really liked the place. Later I wanted to return, but couldn’t get a room.

We had a fantastic time, and the staff were so friendly. The rooms are small but cozy, and the service was excellent. Our two-year-old daughter spent all her time bouncing on the garden trampoline, whether it was sunny, rainy, or below freezing.
