The staff were friendly, but the shower stopped working whenever people in other rooms were showering, and the rooms were dirty and needed paint. My reservation was for a room with a balcony and TV. They offered an upgrade, but didn’t tell me that the supposedly better room had neither. It just had an extra bed in a corner, which didn’t matter since I was staying alone. They weren’t flexible about a late checkout, not even by 10 minutes. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT.

I booked this hostel during peak tourist season because it was the only one I could find in Salta. The price was low, and I was just glad to have a bed for the night. What I got was a place that felt like a death trap. There were no sheets on my bed, and when I asked the front desk, they had no pillowcases either. I don’t understand how a place offering beds to sleep in can run out of sheets and pillowcases, but there it is. Showering left half the bathroom floor underwater. The water kept switching between hot and cold, sometimes stopped completely, and I saw a cockroach in there. It was just the crown jewel in the range of insects I encountered during my one night. Afterwards, I pushed as much of the water as I could toward the drain with the squeegee. It’s nice that they provide guests with tools to clean the bathroom, since apparently they don’t clean it themselves. The worst thing was in the morning, when I found a mushroom growing from under the sink. The suite was so moldy that I woke up congested, with irritated lungs, and booked another hotel that was far beyond my budget. I checked out early after just one night. The stay was so awful that the owners should be ashamed to take people’s money. I shouldn’t have to worry about getting black lung when I check into a hostel. The world would be better off if the property were demolished and replaced with a KFC.

A good backpacker hostel, though a few things could be better. There’s no soap, so bring your own, and the Wi-Fi is slow and doesn’t reach everywhere. Mosquito nets would be great too.

We were promised access to the kitchen, but when we arrived at midnight, we weren’t allowed to use it. From the start, we didn’t get what we’d been told to expect. None of us had pillowcases, and one bunk bed was missing a ladder. Every time my friends and I showered, the bathroom flooded and everything got soaking wet. At checkout, an employee asked us for a credit card sized piece of paper that was supposed to let us get our deposits back. We had never received it, but they refused to return our deposits anyway. After countless attempts to sort it out with the staff and MULTIPLE PHONE CALLS with the manager and the same staff member who checked us in, we still DID NOT GET OUR DEPOSITS BACK. They even blamed us for losing the paper we’d never been given, along with the “missing” pillowcases. It was a horrible experience and a terrible end to our trip in Salta. We don’t recommend staying here and hope no one else has had this happen. It was two years ago, but it still stands out so much that it motivated us to write this review today and spread awareness.

It wasn’t the worst place, but it wasn’t good either, and I wouldn’t stay again. The kitchen was very dirty, and I saw little roaches there. Most of the staff weren’t especially friendly, though the guy at check-in was very nice. The rooms were okay apart from the doors falling apart, but you could find somewhere better for the same price.
