We only had one night here while passing through salta, but the hotel was lovely. The balcony was nice, the bed was huge, and the bathroom was great. The staff were super friendly. We left at 5:30 in the morning, so I can't say anything about breakfast. It's right on the square with plenty of restaurants within walking distance, and the start of the San Bernardo hill walk is about a 15 minute walk away.

A friendly Uruguayan taxi driver who showed us around Salta suggested Hotel Colonial, and I'm glad we stayed there with my family last April. It was my second trip to Argentina and my first to Salta. The hotel sits right on the central square, with shops, restaurants, and currency exchange just outside. It's an older place with plenty of charm, a comfortable living room for sitting together, and a sweet indoor patio with potted plants. The rooms aren't fancy, but they were clean, comfortable, and had what we needed. What stood out most was the hospitality from everyone, from reception and breakfast staff to the manager. My family enjoyed meeting him, especially when we found out he had lived in the same California city as us and knew the central coast. I'd highly recommend this hotel.

Charming is the word for it. It's a traditional older hotel, but very comfortable and in an amazing location. There are some nice places to sit and meet with others, and the staff were lovely and so helpful.
