Hostal Amalaya

The reception staff refused to provide the breakfast my booking said was included, and were very rude about it. The room was nothing like the photos, in a bad way. It was advertised as having a private bathroom, but it turned out to be dedicated to our room and located outside it.

The photos don't show what the place is really like. This is a very low-quality hostel, and I wouldn't recommend it. The beds were unstable, the air conditioning was so noisy we had to turn it off at night, and both the tap and toilet leaked. There was no proper shower, just showering on the floor, which got everything wet, and the sink was falling apart. Breakfast was very limited too, just coffee or tea, a pastry, and some biscuits.

Really bad. You have to show up in person or make a reservation to get any information by phone. Basically, you have to go there, which is a problem if you're carrying luggage and don't want to wander around without a plan. If this is how things start, you can only imagine what the service is like.

In September 2025, I paid $40,000 for a double room with simple breakfast and parking included. The service was excellent, and it was centrally located but very quiet.
