Hotel De Las Nubes

The room still felt cold and uncomfortable, even though the staff at Hotel de las Nubes tried to help. We know San Antonio de los Cobres is harsh and cold, especially in winter, but the hotel seemed unprepared for basic comfort. In our son's room, a dried, bloody booger was stuck to the wall, so it clearly hadn't been cleaned well. The TV barely worked, and the bartender was aloof. We asked them to light the fire pit in the main barroom so we could watch a football match. They tried, but in the middle of winter they didn't have the right firewood or tools to get it going. It may be one of the more established places in town, but it felt run-down and poorly managed. If you're not comfortable with very minimal amenities, you may be better off trying somewhere else or continuing to a town with better equipped accommodation.

When we were there, it was cold in San Antonio, but our room stayed cozy. The hotel is clean, well insulated, and well run, though this isn't a luxury, five-star experience. The room was comfortable enough and the water pressure was good. Staff helped us figure out which route to take south after heavy rains. Breakfast was simple and good. We'd definitely come back.

The price felt a little high since it's the only hotel in the city, but we ended up with a great, well-heated room and really good food. When my daughter got altitude sickness, the staff were super kind and helpful. They brought her coca tea and helped us find a way to the hospital for oxygen. We were happy to spend the night there.

The food was surprisingly good, especially the fresh, tasty breakfast, and the staff were kind and helpful with requests. We stayed here 11 years ago and came away very positively impressed. The rooms have since been refurbished and are in good shape, though the beds are very soft. You can hear everyone passing because the room doors are very thin.
