Hotel Garay

We went in December 2024, outside the busy season, and brought our pet without any trouble. The price was very affordable, and the staff were all excellent, kind, and attentive. The room was comfortable, though a little small. The bathroom was very spacious, and the mattress was okay, we slept well. Everything was very clean, and the bedding and bath towels were spotless. The window could use attention: it didn’t latch properly, and the shutters wouldn’t close all the way. There wasn’t a buffet area, so breakfast was brought to our table. They offered toast and medialunas, with tea, coffee, and other drinks.

The bathroom was spectacularly spacious, and the room was very clean. Breakfast was good too, and the croissants were delicious, despite what I’d read in other reviews. The staff were lovely and very attentive. We were very satisfied with the stay overall, but there were a couple of issues. The Wi-Fi hardly ever worked well. We were in back room 208, where the hot water took a long time to arrive. One day there was no hot water, so I reported it and it was fixed the next day, but the same thing happened again the day after. They said the back room was why it took so long.

The staff were friendly, and that was the only positive for us. We booked through Booking.com after seeing what looked like a nice, spacious place, but were given room H3, which was unbelievably small and nothing like the website description. When you shower, literally everything gets wet. There were other rooms upstairs, but it seems that website bookings get these cramped rooms. Don’t rent H1, H2, or H3.

The staff were what I liked most. Everyone was friendly and willing to help with anything we needed. They even looked after my luggage while I relaxed on the beach before leaving. The location is great too, just one block from Avenida San Bernardo in the city center. I stayed for four nights, and my room was clean throughout. I’ve stayed in hotels that don’t even clean, so I really want to highlight that. A silly, random detail I loved was having two reading lights by the bed. I read a lot in bed, and those lights were a lifesaver. I’ll definitely be back.
