The view was genuinely beautiful, but it couldn’t make up for the state of the apartment. It was outdated and poorly maintained, and even replacing the old kitchen utensils would help. Cleanliness was well below an acceptable level: the bathroom had mold, the place was very dirty (see the photos), and we weren’t sure the blankets had been washed properly. We considered finding somewhere else, but with so few alternatives and the extra cost, we felt we had no choice but to stay. I honestly don’t understand why Cabañas Chesa Engadina is rated so highly.

We liked it enough to add another day to our stay. The cabanas are lovely and really comfortable, with views of Nahuel Huapi and the mountains. Daniella and the other caretakers were especially welcoming. The bus terminal is 800 meters away, grocery stores are about a 10-15 minute walk, and there’s a lovely beach across the road, around five minutes away. Walking to the town centre takes an easy 30 minutes, or you can take the bus.

The lake view and peaceful, safe setting were lovely. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and warm, with good service and parking available. There are alarms in the apartments. I’d come back.
