The staff are kind and helpful, though they don't speak English. We got locked in our room one morning because the door lock was faulty, but they sorted it out quickly. At check-in, make sure you don't get room 21, or ask whether they've fixed its lock. The hotel itself is fairly new and clean. Breakfast is basic but fine: bread, butter, jam, cake, coffee, and tea.

The patio was a lovely place to unwind after a day of excursions, with its greenery and peaceful feel. Having a fully equipped kitchen was also very practical for our family with three children. We felt comfortable as soon as we arrived at Hotel Madre de América, and the service was outstanding, always friendly, attentive, and ready to help. The location is perfect, close to everything in San Ignacio, which made getting around with the kids easier. We'd definitely recommend it and would come back.

The kitchen, stove, refrigerator, and utensils are shared, and breakfast is self serve: coffee, tea, milk, croissants, and toast in the air conditioned dining room with a TV. There are three covered parking spots, plus space in the courtyard, a large patio, and regional products for sale at reception. It's a simple hostel hotel, but the rooms are spacious, very clean, and have neat linens, air conditioning, a decent bathroom, and a shower with normal pressure. Recommended, with excellent value for money.
