Hotel Nuevo Mundo

The reception and kitchen staff were genuinely kind, listened whenever we raised an issue, and even offered us a suite. The breakfast was acceptable. But the condition of the hotel was awful for the price. The bathroom had dampness, crumbling wood, and a loose shower soap dish. The pool was green with algae and peeling paint, and the only decent TV picture was in the lobby. In our room it looked like someone was tapping into a neighbor's cable. The towels were all yellowed and worn, with holes as large as a glass, and the bedding was stained and tired too. Someone entered our room without our permission or a cleaning request, and I found my suitcase moved. Nothing was missing, but that was unacceptable. The lounge chair seemed to be held together with a rope, so watch out in windy weather. Other loungers had raised edges from being broken, and they wouldn't replace them. There was no sign of maintenance either. We left before the end of our stay. They refused to cancel the remaining days or refund us. We even offered to pay cash for the days we'd used if needed, but the manager said that wasn't hotel policy. The staff were excellent, but the rest of the situation wasn't.

The staff were excellent, and we really enjoyed the breakfast. The place itself was comfortable and nice, but it didn't match what was advertised. My wife and I booked because the listing said there was a spa and pool, then after we'd paid, we were told both were closed. On hot days, the room's air conditioning wasn't much help either 🥵. We were disappointed with what we'd chosen, and with so many nicer, less expensive places around, I don't think we'll book here again 😞.

It was so quiet that I thought we were the only guests, though breakfast showed plenty of families with kids. You couldn't hear noise from other rooms. The rooms were well-conditioned and housekeeping did a great job. Breakfast was delicious and had a lot to choose from. Staff were incredibly friendly and always there when we needed something.

The staff were wonderful 🥰. Breakfast and the bar service were both excellent, and the facilities were very comfortable. It's only a few blocks from the center of downtown San Rafael.
