San Remo Park Hotel

It was okay.

The window in our ground-floor room faced the sidewalk, with no security at all, so I couldn’t even air the room out. There was no cold water, and showering meant rushing through two seconds of scalding hot water. The TV didn’t work, and the fan sounded like it might fall onto the bed when switched on. The facilities were run-down, the pool filthy, and the rooms grimy and disappointing. The service was terrible. The place is advertised everywhere with photos that make it look “nice,” but arriving was terrifying. We paid for half-board and got gnocchi that were just lumps of dough with sauce, with oil floating on top. Breakfast was tea, coffee, bread, and croissants. Save your money and don’t go.

The staff were super friendly, and I liked that my window looked out onto the park. The room was basic and had no electrical outlets apart from the one in the bathroom. Breakfast was okay, though it could be better. The pool was really nice. It was inexpensive, and I wasn’t expecting much, so it was fine for me. But the park was covered in cigarette butts. People should throw them away properly, and someone needs to address it urgently. The piles were unpleasant wherever you looked.

The location is the only saving grace. The place felt so inhospitable. As soon as we entered, we could see mold and damp. The bathroom filled with steam, and the only ceiling fan seemed faulty. Breakfast looked like it had been made two days earlier and was very poor quality. We had to ask three times for towels. When they finally came, they were terrible.
