The location is great, with everything close enough to reach on foot, and the rooms are good, meant for sleeping rather than hanging around in. Staff were friendly and helpful, though the service itself wasn't capable. You have to cook for yourself and buy your own ingredients. They sell a few bottled drinks at a great price. The only downside is slow WiFi, but just don't use it xD.

The mattresses were amazingly comfortable, and breakfast was good and enough. I only got to stay one night, though I spent two full days in Tilcara, which is a really beautiful place. Thanks, Waira Hostel. I found it as a last-minute option, probably one of the cheapest hostels around. It’s simple, but that seems suited to backpackers looking for somewhere basic to sleep. The reception ladies were super sweet and flexible. Since it was quiet, they let me rest a little longer because my back was hurting. The open-air area was lovely, and the hammock felt deeelicious. I had the room to myself in the low season and cooler weather, but I can imagine having a good time in the courtyard with other travellers when the timing works out. My one complaint is the lack of outlets. As backpackers, we need a chance to charge our phones through the night.

The outdoor area is lovely, which makes it a pity that we didn’t feel welcome. We stayed three nights and found the owners’ attention disappointing. They didn’t seem very friendly or interested in having contact with guests. The room itself was okay, but its door didn’t shut properly, so the nights were really cold. For the price, the room and equipment didn’t feel like good value. On our last day we had a BBQ. We’d bought our own charcoal, but misunderstood the owner and thought we could use the wood near the BBQ area. We couldn’t, and had to pay extra for the wood.

We stayed one night and paid the most expensive price we’d ever paid in Argentina, but got the worst hotel we could have. The room was very small, and the shower and toilet were too cramped to use properly. In the evening, the electricity went off until 10 a.m., so we couldn’t use the light or charge our phones.

We camped here, and it was a nice spot for 200$/pers/night. The bathrooms were clean, and the kitchen had everything needed to cook, though having a heater in the evening would have made it better. Staff were friendly, and it’s a nice place. Our pitch was just behind a peña, by the wall and under the trees, and the music was loud until 2:00am every night. Don’t forget earplugs 😊
