Carpe Diem

On the fourth day, cockroaches started coming out from under the bed, so we left for somewhere more expensive but clean. The owner denied the problem and said it was our fault for looking under the bed. He treated us badly, and the police had to come and make a report. He kept all our money even though we were going elsewhere. He wouldn't give us a receipt when we arrived, and only sent it once the police showed up at the hostel. The worst choice we could have made. No hygiene, responsibility, or respect. A shameless crook. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT.

It's right in the center, around the corner from the Casita de Tucumán, but that's about the only good point. The photos are OLD, and the place is run down, broken, deteriorated, and dirty. Even the renovated parts are neglected. In my room's bathroom there was mold and dirt, and it lacked a shower curtain, toilet paper, and soap. The room itself wasn't awful, but the mattresses and pillows were worn out. You have to put on the sheets yourself and take them off before leaving. WiFi was unusable. There were 4 cmas and 2 outlets. It isn't even cheap enough to make up for the state of the facilities.

We paid in advance, but the hostel we arrived at was filthy and nothing like its advertising photos. The beds weren't made, and cockroaches were crawling out from underneath. When we complained and asked for our money back, the owner made a huge scene, so we went to the police station and filed a report against him for fraud. They took 12,000 pesos from us, money we'll never get back, and it spoiled part of our trip. I absolutely don't recommend this hostel.

This was a HORRIBLE experience, especially as our first time in Tucumán. We came from the south of the country as university students hoping to enjoy a conference, but the rooms were filthy and hadn't been cleaned before we got them. Cockroaches came out of the mattresses, and behind the beds we found other people's things, like toothbrushes buried in dust and lint. Spiders had made nests there too, and we realized they were around after getting bitten. We tried to talk politely with the owner, but he treated us badly, called us liars and bullies, and kept acting arrogant and aggressive even though the insects and dirt were obvious. An officer had to step in. The officer asked him to wait for a higher-ranking officer so they could talk, but he left, saying he was going to shower and would be right back. We had to stand outside with all our luggage because he never gave us an answer, let alone one in our favor. The officer said the whole thing was a scam. We really don't recommend this hostel.
