The staff at Los Acebos were much friendlier and more accommodating than at Los Hayas, and the views from both the restaurant and our room were amazing. I was there as part of an Antarctica cruise package. A booking mix-up by the cruise company meant I was meant to stay at the 5-star Los Hayas across the road, but I ended up at Los Acebos, which turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Having experienced both, I actually preferred Los Acebos. There are some nice extras, including a small but well equipped gym, a games room, and complimentary bike rentals for exploring the area. They also put on daily activities. I joined the Friday night event and won a delicious cocktail of my choice! Los Acebos doesn't have the hot tub or squash court that Los Hayas offers, but the service, atmosphere, and views more than made up for it. We much preferred our time here.

The shared spaces and bar have wonderful views over Ushuaia bay. Although the hotel promotes sea-view rooms, in many of them trees and bushes get in the way even though the windows face the water. The front desk staff were unusually unpleasant and aggressive.

We ate really well, and the restaurant looked out over amazing scenery at both dinner and breakfast. I only wish we'd tried some hikes near the hotel. We went to the national park, but I suspect the trails and views around here would've been better. One Argentina tip for someone like me who drinks a lot of coffee: bring a decent-sized mug, since the local cups are tiny.

Breakfast was a real treat, especially the pastries, local jams, strong coffee, and Calafate berry yogurt. After days spent among glaciers, forests, and penguin colonies, it was lovely to come back somewhere quiet and personal, with a hint of luxury. The room felt cozy but elegant, and the windows opened onto wide mountain and sea views. Everyone at Los Acebos made me feel at home from the start. The staff were warm and helpful, happy to pass along local tips. The glacier is within walking distance, and guests can use mountain bikes. Los Acebos became part of my Ushuaia experience. I'd return in a heartbeat, whether for adventure, photography, or simply some stillness in nature.
