Tango B&B Ushuaia

The staff are the reason this gets three stars instead of one. The woman working there was caring and did her best to help. The rooms are old, though clean, just not perfectly so. The bathrooms are very dated, the bathtub and curtain are stained, and the toilet makes a constant leaking sound that’s annoying when you’re trying to sleep. There’s carpet on the floors, so I’d want shoes on. It’s okay for a night or two if you’re not too picky. Breakfast is just bread, coffee, and apples. I didn’t see any of the fruit shown on Google, though maybe those pictures were from a long time ago. I did appreciate the tea bags left out all day so you could make tea. I’d avoid their laundry: it costs 10k, the old machines left some kind of dust stain on my clothes, and it’s overpriced. Go to pink laundry in Ushuaia, it’s amazing.

Vanessa was always available to help us make the most of our time in Ushuaia. The room and bathroom were clean, and breakfast was really good. I’d recommend staying here.

They had to cancel my reservation, but I’m still giving five stars because they handled it so thoughtfully. I’d booked through a booking website and arrived before check-in to leave my bags. They explained that the person who was due to leave had contracted COVID, and they were letting them stay and quarantine, so there was no room for me. They called around to help me find somewhere else, offered coffee and water, and even offered lunch, which I declined. As I left, they gave me their personal phone number in case I needed translation help or anything else because of the cancellation. They seemed like genuinely good people and did the right thing to help end the pandemic. I had the opposite experience in another town in Argentina, where my hotel kicked me out early after I told them I had COVID, and I nearly had to sleep on the street while sick. Tango B&B is good. That other place was bad. If you get the chance, stay here!
