The apartments are cute, clean, and in a great spot, about a block from the main street. Everything worked, and the heat was so strong that we had to open the windows. I would have appreciated extra toilet paper and cleaning supplies for keeping the apartment in shape. The lobby and hallway had a bad smell, though it didn’t extend into the apartment. The bigger problem was the payment. I booked on Booking.com with payment due at check-in, but was told they couldn’t charge me in dollars and needed pesos instead. Rather than use the price I’d reserved, she converted the daily rate using the exchange rate at which they rent the apartments themselves. I get text alerts for card charges and saw that I’d been overcharged by $59. She blamed a foreign transaction fee, even though my card doesn’t have one. She said it had never happened before and would contact Booking. A few days later, when I asked whether she had reached them, she said she couldn’t get through. At checkout, I overheard another family dealing with a similar issue. It’s a shame they don’t honor the booked price, because the location and apartments really are appealing.
