Hotel Uruguay

We had a good time here, and the staff were really friendly. It's a decent place for a few days in Villa Carlos Paz if you're not after luxury. There are a playground, pool, and terrace. The air conditioning worked well, though we had to call downstairs to have it turned on, and the TV wouldn't switch off with the remote. The shower had good pressure but drained slowly. Dinner was fine, though one day the croissants with our half-board meal were stale.

The pool was covered in algae, the elevator gets stuck, and the stairs are dangerous. In the room, we found cockroaches and lipstick stains on the sheets, and there was hair in the food. They don't change the towels. The black and white TV keeps cutting out and doesn't work properly, and you have to ask downstairs to turn on the air conditioning.

I spent New Year's Eve at the hotel and found the service excellent. The staff were especially attentive, and the rooms were very clean. The pool isn't very big, but it did the job on hot days. Highly recommend.

Breakfast was a highlight, with a good range of fresh things to eat before heading out to the city or mountains. The staff, from reception through breakfast, were friendly, helpful, and full of energy. Hotel Uruguay has a warm, welcoming feel, and the rooms were comfortable, clean, and equipped with what we needed. The location made getting around easy: it's a few blocks from the city center and near Villa Carlos Paz's main sights, so we didn't need the car much. The staff also paid close attention to cleanliness and details.
