Cana Blaya Apart Hotel

Family-friendly.

The rooms are run-down, though the place itself isn’t ugly. Breakfast was extremely basic, and not tasty. They could make the stay more enjoyable with recreation or daily activities, and it isn’t ideal for kids. The staff were friendly from the moment we arrived, which I do want to mention. For the price, though, I wouldn’t come back.

The patio and pool were the only real highlights. The food was disappointing, served at another hotel’s buffet, bland and with little variety. The buffet tablecloths were dirty, and the shared bathrooms had no toilet paper. The rooms were dark, with hardly any natural light or lamps. They did have a refrigerator, which was a plus. The bedding was decent enough, but it wasn’t changed during our stay, and some comforters were stained. The towels looked clean, although some were torn. The facilities were very basic and covered in cobwebs, and the pool water could have been clearer. The one time we wanted to use it, they asked us to get out so they could add chlorine. That could have been done at night or early in the morning when nobody was using the pool, instead of during the day.

The food at this hotel chain was shameful, and I’ll never return. We came for a very good choral concert, expecting to stay at Torres del Sol Hotel, but were placed at Cana Blaya Hotel, which belongs to the same complex. Lunch and breakfast were served at another hotel in the chain, two blocks away. The meals were bland, poorly prepared and came in meager portions. The desserts were just as bad. At breakfast they served an extremely ordinary lollipop, and the butter was cut into little pieces, even though decent-quality butter would have been easy to provide. Four people from my choir got sick from the food. I complained in person, but it did no good. Several of us were left hungry and had to eat elsewhere.
