Inés was lovely with guests, speaks English, and patiently answered all my questions before I arrived. The hotel is right on the beach, with lots of beach cafes there. Afrika had the best food and service of the ones I tried. There aren’t any great dinner restaurants within walking distance, but it’s easy to get a taxi. There’s no hair dryer, and apartments near reception can be a little noisy. Still, it’s a great apart hotel for a beach holiday.

That ocean view is hard to beat, and the pool was lovely, with warm water and a view of the sea. But the apartment we got felt old for the price of $325,000 per day. The curtains were ripped, the closet smelled damp, and the window wouldn't shut, so it was wide open at 6:30 in the morning and disturbed our sleep. We could even hear the toilet flushing next door. Maybe our unit hadn't been renovated yet, but the value for money just wasn't there.

The loft was on the small side, with hardly room to cook and a stovetop but no oven. Still, we had a lovely week in Gesell. The apartment balcony looked out over the ocean, and the sea was only steps away. Dack beach bar was right next door and was excellent too.
