Breakfast had plenty to choose from, with fresh meats, cheeses, breads, fruit, jams, cereals and eggs, and it was all delicious. Our cozy, spotless room for three had a little balcony, a lovely spot to take in the town and mountain views. Franziska and her partner Johannes were kind, attentive hosts who made sure we were comfortable. They’d left thoughtful complimentary items too, including sparkling wine, chocolate, lotion, eye masks, soap and sanitizer. I also loved the world map where guests mark where they’re from. It’s a unique idea and can lead to stories about different cultures. Hopefully we were their first guests from Iran ✌🏼💚🤍❤️. That personal touch made the stay feel special. An absolutely stunning place with an incredible view, highly recommended!

We visited with my wife in January 2026 and will definitely come back. The house sits at the edge of Abtenau, in a perfectly quiet spot. There are about six guest rooms, but we didn’t hear a sound during the day or night and could enjoy the mountain peace. Our room and bed were very comfortable, and the balcony view was stunning. Getting there from the main road and parking were both easy. On top of that, the couple who own the house are completely dedicated to their work. Their warm welcome and helpfulness throughout our stay made the experience exceptional.

The guesthouse in Abtenau (H89W+F7 Abtenau, Austria) was a handy base for sightseeing, around 35 minutes from Hallstatt and 50 minutes from Salzburg. I stayed two nights, 07-09 October 2025, and it was one of the warmest, most memorable parts of my Europe trip. The room was clean and cozy, with a very comfortable mattress and pillows. The bathroom was spotless, with great water pressure and lovely warm water. Hannaes and Franziska Schwarzenbacher were wonderful hosts. They helped me get the Salzburg Verkehr Guest Mobility Ticket, which meant free local bus travel and discounts at several tourist attractions. Breakfast was delightful, with homemade jams, plenty of cheese and ham, and freshly brewed coffee and tea. They even invited guests to take leftover food for lunch, which showed how much they cared. They also surprised me with a lovely personal gift that really touched me. It felt more like visiting kind friends than staying somewhere. I left Abtenau a little heavier because the food was just too good, and much happier. I promised Hannaes and Franziska I’d return on my next visit to Munich. A stay full of warmth, care and heart, highly recommended ❤️

The host was so kind and shared lots of information about traveling around the area. Our family spent three days here, and it became a really lovely memory. The hotel was in great condition and very clean, just as other reviews said. Breakfast was delicious too. If I visit Austria again, I’d like to stay here.
