I changed accommodation three times during the Alpbach forum, and even had to stay in Reith when Alpbach was fully booked. This place was easily the best of them: very affordable, about three times cheaper than most of the others, and really cosy, with a home-like feel. It’s not for someone looking for a proper hotel, but it’s a great fit if you like a local setting and traditional Austrian atmosphere. Book well ahead, as it apparently has lots of regular guests.

That breakfast buffet at Haus Postfeld was a dream, amazing and with nothing left wanting. Our first mountain holiday in Alpbachtal this June was wonderful, and our stay with Hilda and Friedl Kostenzer was superb. We felt completely at ease, and our little hiking group will definitely return. We’ve been visiting the mountains for years, and can wholeheartedly recommend this place. Hilda is such a friendly, helpful host and really makes you feel at home while you’re in Alpbach. We had a wonderful stay at Haus Postfeld. The rooms were cosy, very clean, and tidy, and we’ll definitely come back.

The breakfast is tasty and has plenty of variety, and the rooms are comfortable and spacious. There are both single and double rooms, with the bathroom and toilet separate. We’ve stayed here for years and always enjoy it. Hilda, who runs the guesthouse, is a gem and loves looking after her guests.

I’ve returned for skiing for years, and sometimes come in summer as well. The service and friendly welcome are second to none.
