Ferienhof Leitengut

Another lovely holiday at Leitengut has come to an end. Thanks so much for the excellent accommodation in such a fantastic location.

You feel completely at home here, and there’s something for children of every age. Everything you could want for a family vacation. I highly recommend it.

The afternoon and evening views across the valley to the Lackenkogel were part of what made this feel like a real vacation. Leitengut, near Altenmarkt, is also a fantastic base for all the nearby activities, with independent relaxation in the afternoons and evenings. We were there for two weeks with our 10-year-old daughter, for our first visit, and our expectations were surpassed by many wonderful experiences. The farm is excellently maintained, carefully organized, and always child-friendly. The petting zoo was fantastic, as was the solid-wood playhouse built in 2019. There was a barbecue evening each week before it, and the kids could jump and play together on the farm until dark. We’d gladly come back.

We stayed for two weeks in the Strims apartment with our three children, aged 5, 7, and 12. The apartment and its furnishings were good, and delicious cake was brought to our door on both Sundays. There was lots of play equipment in the yard, especially the popular pedal cars and playground. We could buy fresh milk and eggs at the farm. Our children asked the hostess whether it was possible to make butter from the milk, but she couldn't answer. They petted the farm dog, a cat, and the three goats. We saw the chickens and rabbits in their sheds and the two ponies in the pasture. Still, the farm holiday we expected didn’t happen. On arrival, we were only shown the rooms in the apartment, and we had to explore the rest of the farm ourselves over the following days. At the start of the stay we asked if the children could go into the chicken coop and whether they could ride on the tractor. Both were promised, but neither happened. We also requested two new Wi-Fi access codes after a week because of technical problems on our end. That was promised too, but never sorted out. The hosts didn’t offer ideas or chances to join in with other farm activities. In our view, this is a good place to stay if you’re looking for somewhere nice with plenty of play equipment for children. But we’d expected a farm holiday to include things like helping with farm work, visiting the alpine pasture or dairy, going to the stables, and spending time with the animals. Those things weren’t advertised on the website, but the description “farm holiday” gave us the wrong idea.
