Forellenhof

The Forellenhof suits us well, and we have stayed there several times, but the house is quite old. On this visit a few weeks ago, cleanliness was disappointing: we had to wash the glasses and cutlery before using them, and the bathrooms needed a proper scrub. For a €1600 final cleaning fee, I expect the house to be clean. The description also doesn't say that a staff member lives on the property.

There's no heated ski room or boot warmer, and the sauna heater could use more power. The sauna itself is spacious, but there's no particularly cozy spot to sit outside it. For getting to the ski area, a bus goes twice a day each way, and for larger groups it can stop right outside the house. The kitchen is big and well set up for cooking, though groups may want to bring their own wine or champagne glasses. The common rooms are comfortable and roomy, with quiet corners even when the group is large. The bedrooms, on the other hand, are simply furnished and dated, and all the mattresses are too soft. It's a nice, large group house, but it has seen better days.

It's a peaceful place where you can relax, and more besides.

The Forellenhof sits in a valley with lovely mountain views. I was here for a final exam camp; the rooms were great, though the pillows were much too soft.
