Hotel-Restaurant Kaiserhof

We weren’t staying at the hotel, just stopped for breakfast while our car charged. The buffet was much like other breakfast buffets, nothing especially remarkable, but the staff were especially kind and helpful with us as non-German speakers. We sat outside and found it really relaxing on a sunny, clear morning. One of the best experiences of our European road trip.

We were a family of 12, and everyone at the hotel went above and beyond for us. Both Christmas Eve dinner and our meal on Christmas were tremendous, and the breakfasts were wonderful too, with great choices and amazing juices. The staff were fantastic, the rooms excellent, and the food was awesome. A fantastic hotel and team!

We’d stayed here more than 10 times, and the way this was handled felt arrogant and left us out in the cold. The hotel itself is clean, but nothing special, and it gets extremely warm in summer. We used to think it was good value for an EV stop because charging was free in the early years. The hotel never announced that free charging had ended, and ChargePoint still listed its chargers as free. The lot was full of Kaiserhof's Tesla vehicles that weren’t charging. When I politely asked reception whether one could be moved, the discussion turned to being told to use the chargers out front, which are extremely expensive. We asked the owner if we could cancel since the stop no longer made sense for us, but the cancellation policy meant we couldn’t, and he wouldn’t make an exception. No compensation was offered, and he wouldn’t change his mind. To end the discussion, the owner even threatened to contact the police if we wrote a bad review, saying we’d have trouble the next time we drove through Austria because the review would be 'fake'. That’s not customer service. On Google, the hotel always seems to try to resolve customer problems, but this was nothing like that.

We stayed for one night with our school while competing in a local sports tournament. The cooked breakfast was amazingly good, and the staff were welcoming and very accommodating. The rooms were comfortable, the surroundings were lovely, and the hotel felt just perfect and very traditional. There’s also a local pizza restaurant we can highly recommend. We’ll definitely come back on our next trip.
