Pension La Mamma

The staff were kind, and dinner was okay. There’s no breakfast, but a Spar is right next door. The pension is beside a busy road, with loud trucks passing constantly. The bathroom has no ventilation, which was unpleasant with the toilet and shower in the same room.

We picked this place for a one-night stop on our cycling trip along the Danube. The rooms are cozy and clean, with two beds and room for an extra one. The bathroom, shower, and toilet were all spotless and tidy, and there’s somewhere to store the bikes. We ended up spending most of the evening in the ground-floor restaurant. It has a pleasant atmosphere and a broad choice of pizzas, salads, and other Italian dishes. The food was excellent, especially the tuna salad, which my wife said was the best she’d ever had. The Radler was great too, and they had wine by the glass or bottle as well as soft drinks. We spent quite a bit there, but I don’t regret it. There’s a large Spar across from the guesthouse, although it’s closed on Sundays. The location near roads and the high bridge over the Danube might bother some people, but on Sunday we didn’t hear much noise in the rooms. We recommend staying here, you won’t be disappointed.

The food was excellent, the staff friendly, and it’s a beautiful spot. Dogs are welcome too, which isn’t always the case. We’ll come back.

On my Danube Cycle Path ride, La Mamma was a well-placed stop. I got a warm welcome, and the room was clean and roomy, with its own bathroom. There’s a locked bike shed for storing bicycles. The Wi-Fi was the one snag. It wasn’t working properly, but the staff were very helpful trying to sort it out.
