The room has been fully renovated inside a traditional farmhouse, and the hosts are friendly. Breakfast was excellent. The location works well in both summer and winter, with Tauplitzalm, the Grimming Therme spa, Lake Grundlsee and other places quickly reachable by car.

It’s very quiet in the village of Straßen, and we felt right at home in this bright, modern apartment. There are sheep, pigs and a dog in the yard, plus parking under a carport. The two bedrooms have a double bed and two single beds, and there’s a bathroom with a bathtub and a separate toilet. The spacious living and dining area connects to a kitchen that’s fully equipped and thoughtfully furnished. From the living room, a small balcony gives you a nice spot to enjoy the sun and mountain panorama, perhaps with a glass of wine. There’s also a very nice-looking sauna, though we didn’t use it.

We felt very comfortable in the well-equipped apartment. The house was cold when we arrived in the afternoon, though, and our two children started the next day with fevers. Bring warm clothes.

The room had the feel of an IKEA catalog, and the beds were good. The location was nice, and the farmer’s wife was very kind.
