This boutique style hotel was just what we needed for a relaxing break. It's a great fit for families who want some peace away from everyday noise and chaos, but don't want to stay at a children's hotel. The hotel doesn't specialize in kids, but treats them with real care. A huge playground is only a 3 minute walk away. The food was excellent throughout the day, from the morning buffet to small soups and salads at lunch, cakes in the afternoon, and dinner. Staff made sure everyone could enjoy the meals, taking special dietary needs into account, including pregnancy and allergies. Children got special treatment too. Everyone was extremely friendly. The spa was nice, especially the spacious, comfortable sauna area. The fitness and massage areas were clean and pleasant as well. We loved our much needed escape and highly recommend it to anyone looking to relax and shake off stress.

We stayed at Vulkanlandhotel Legenstein for two nights, and it left us feeling rested in body, mind, and spirit. It's one thing to find a wellness place that cares for your body, harder to find one that takes care of the whole vacation. The family atmosphere people talk about is real. The hosts know what they're doing, and with around 50-70 guests, the hotel stays small enough not to feel crowded. The food was excellent, with local ingredients at the heart of the kitchen's work, which adds to the feeling of being away from the city. The barman was great too. His polite service came with a funny, rather judgmental look if you ordered a cocktail before 4pm, which is understandable. Our one easy fix would be the mattresses, which felt a bit too firm for us. Still, we felt perfectly looked after, and Monday after that weekend felt a little less like Monday. See you soon! --- Update --- We returned almost a year after our last stay, and the hotel is still the gem we remembered. We can't wait to come back. The spa was clean and comfortable, and genuinely relaxing. This time we tried the small but well equipped gym and added a massage. We enjoyed that almost as much as the note management left in our bedroom. The customer care was truly exceptional. Reception had also prepared a check-in document in advance, which sped up the process and made a difference. We suspect Franz (the bartender) has something especially magical going on, because he was particularly jolly and happy this time. We can't wait to try his cocktails again, especially the exceptional gin tonic!
