Pension Bergblick

We only stopped here because traffic made us arrive very late, no other place was available, and my family had nowhere else to go. Otherwise, we'd never have stayed in this dump. I've been to all kinds of hotels, including low budget ones, and this was an experience I'll never forget. I wouldn't even give it one star. The host's service was horrible. At 9:30 in the morning, while I was in the bathroom and almost naked, he suddenly burst into my room without knocking and shouted, “check out.” I won't even get into how he greeted my family. It was a horrible experience.

It was a low cost place near Hallstatt, but compared with other stays that cost a little more, it was below par. The bedroom furniture was very old, and the mattress should have been replaced years ago. You just sink into it. We didn't feel welcome, and the front desk staff didn't seem to care much about us. Daily cleaning meant taking out the trash and making the bed. Dust and hairs on the floor were left there. The advertised WiFi was available, but none of our three devices could connect during the whole week.

The setting and nature are lovely, and breakfast is okay if you hurry. But the owners were unfriendly, especially the man, and they didn't even try to speak English. Their “Dog friendly” claim seems to mean their dogs can go anywhere while yours can't. I wouldn't recommend this place.

We had a great B&B in a charming Austrian Alps town, with tasty food, fun hosts, and amazing scenery.
