Think twice before booking. The WiFi barely showed one bar and wasn’t usable. The room was missing a hair dryer, and I asked the front desk for one for over a day without getting it. Staff were hard to reach once guests started showering, and if you didn’t catch them first thing the next morning, they were too busy with restaurant customers. The property also has a restaurant, which could be cozy if it were managed well. Instead, when restaurant guests arrived, our needs seemed to be ignored. We were left waiting awkwardly or had to go back to the room and come down later to find staff ourselves. At 8:30 PM there was nobody at reception, even the way to it was locked, and the phone number they gave us didn’t work, so there was no help for requests after that. Breakfast was extremely limited, fewer than five items, I doubt, with no coffee machine, croissants or toast. This is my honest review.

The restaurant has a great medieval-style decor and atmosphere. Our room was new, very clean and comfortable, and the location made it easy to catch the bus to Hallstatt and St Woflgang. We should have booked more than one night!

A traditional Austrian restaurant I’d recommend. The food was really, really good, and the young staff were new. We had goulash Hirscheintopf and Wiener Schnitzel, both fabulous. The KaiserlicheKrümel was very good too, and the portion was big.

We only ate at the restaurant. The lamb cutlets were excellent, and the food was good for quality, quantity and price. It’s very old fashioned, but that didn’t make it any worse.

The staff were really helpful and nice, and breakfast was good. I stayed one night and liked the room. For what I paid, it was well worth it. The location was beautiful, with snow covering the landscape when I stayed after the ski jumps in Bischofshofen on 6th January. I’ll come back if I’m in the region again.
