Goldener Ochs

The casual, greenhouse-like dining room made breakfast a pleasure, and the buffet was healthy and generous. We stayed two nights at this lovely hotel in the centre of town, so getting around was convenient. Reception welcomed us warmly and got us into our rooms promptly. We also had dinner at the restaurant, where hotel guests get 10% off the food bill. We enjoyed the asparagus soup, salmon, fried chicken and wines. Our server was attentive and gave us good recommendations. We’d love to come back.

We were treated really poorly here, especially for the price. We waited almost an hour for pancakes that weren’t even that good, and the waiter wasn’t pleasant. He made it clear he wasn’t happy we’d come, even though we hadn’t done anything wrong. 0/10 experience, wouldn’t recommend.

The food was good, but the portions felt tiny for what we paid, and getting it took ages. When we arrived, the server seemed to judge us by how we were dressed. We did eventually get a table, but waited around 10 minutes just to get a menu, while women who arrived after us were already being served.

Big disappointment. The receptionist was unfriendly and disrespectful, and made no effort to give us a good first impression. She also said we'd have to pay extra if we wanted help carrying our luggage to the room. For a four star hotel, I expected basic guest service. Even one star feels like too much, but I had to select one to leave a review. A waste of money.
