Pension Südhang

The owners are friendly, and breakfast is generous. It’s a family-run pension with a lovely view over the ski slopes.

By 2025, I knew I wanted to spend my whole vacation here, largely because Sonja, the owner and kindest person I know, does everything she can to meet each guest’s wishes. I first stayed spontaneously for two nights in 2021 and was welcomed so warmly. Breakfast is lovingly prepared, and the fried or scrambled eggs cooked in an old cast iron pan deserve a special mention. The service is fantastic. When I was sick in my room, they brought me black tea in the morning and homemade soup at lunch. I could keep my mountain bike safely in the private shed, and there’s plenty of parking too. It’s a lovely, peaceful place with a family atmosphere and a welcome break from everyday life. If having to drive a few meters farther up the mountain bothers you, go to one of the temples, then keep asking yourself, “Why am I doing this?” I’ll definitely be back, and hope they welcome me just as warmly next time. My husband and I have visited Pension Suedhang once a year for ten years to see our dear Sonja and her son Thomas. It feels like being part of the family. The guesthouse is lovingly furnished, spotlessly clean, and serves a generous breakfast with Carinthian specialties. The views are fantastic, with the Franz Klammer downhill run and the Nockberge mountains all around. There are thermal baths nearby, as well as the new summer toboggan run at the Kaiserburg. Bad Kleinkirchheim in Carinthia is always worth a visit.
