College Garden Hotel

We were looking forward to a wonderful hotel, but the reception staff left us very disappointed. The receptionist on duty acted unprofessionally and seemed to make judgments based on personal opinion. They wanted to charge us for a night we had already paid for through the Booking application using our bank account. We had already taken out the money the receptionist asked for, and if we hadn’t pointed out that we’d paid in advance, we might have been charged again. Thankfully, just in time, we checked our reservation details and confirmed that the night had been paid through the booking application, so there was nothing to pay at reception. Even after that, the receptionist kept citing different laws and insisting that her colleague had made a mistake. We said that was fine, but also that this wasn’t an appropriate way to speak to guests. She told us, “you came down from the room very nervous.” Is that how you talk to someone you were trying to charge for a night they’d already paid for?

The staff made our six-week stay memorable. They were always lovely to us and never seemed to have a bad day at work. The location was great too, with mountain hiking, minigolf, parks, and sunshine on the balcony. The hotel itself had some real shortcomings. We could hear noise through the walls, the pillows could have been better, and the bathroom was ready for refurbishment. Three stars for the hotel, six for the staff.

I spent six months here and really enjoyed the stay. The staff were consistently very friendly and helpful, and every weekend I looked forward to the continental breakfast, with its delicious food and wide selection. The hotel also rents bikes in very good condition. On my first day, the managing director gave me a warm welcome and showed me to my room on the top floor. It had AC, a comfortable bed, a good TV, a great balcony, and a lovely bathroom. Since I was staying so long, I asked whether I could have a small fridge, and a brand new one was in my room the next day. I’d absolutely recommend the hotel. Five out of five!

The internet worked well, the breakfast was good though it could be better, and the service was excellent. It’s a nice place with a pretty view and a convenient location near Vienna. Just keep in mind that without a car, the train station is about 20 minutes away.
