Gams Genießer- & Kuschelhotel

GAMS completely surprised us. We came for our baby moon, using a gift certificate for an extended anniversary celebration before life got gorgeous-crazy. We travel a lot and have stayed in all sorts of hotels, and a couples hotel wouldn't normally have been our first choice. But the service was top level, with great perks and pretty much everything included. The food was excellent, often six or seven courses, and the service team's attention to detail was hard to match. We spent three days at the hotel without needing to go out once, and never got bored. There's a spa, infinity pool, sauna, small cinema, and special perks each day. The massage was one of the nicest we've had, and we'd lived in Asia for a long time, so that's saying something. The rooms are great and feel very private, with a real couple-y atmosphere. No pets, no kids. We were pleasantly surprised and would give them all the stars. Definitely worth the price.

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay and would come back. It came close to a five-star rating, but a few things held it back. The rooms are lovely, with a little fireplace, probably not wood-burning for safety reasons, and the beds were so comfortable I slept well on the first night, which is unusual for me. The staff were very kind and helpful, and check-in and checkout were easy and handled nicely. We tried the "sinful" dinner, a rough translation from German, which starts with a visit to the kitchen. It was fascinating and just wonderful. Dietary restrictions were no problem, and all the staff knew about them. Some of the facilities could be better. The hotel is VERY warm, so we had to keep a window open all night despite the temperatures below zero outside. The outdoor pool water felt a little too cold. The only outdoor pool warm enough is in the nude-only area, which is a shame if you're not comfortable being nude around everyone. The quiet rooms aren't always quiet, since they sometimes open onto the area where drinks and snacks are available. Other guests were considerate, so it was more of a nuisance when trying to sleep. Our massages varied a lot in quality, and the professionalism seemed to depend strongly on who gave them. Two things could be divisive. Wi-Fi is only available at the bar, which is a nice reason to put your phone away, though some guests might want to watch Netflix in their rooms. The bar becomes a smoking area after 8:30 pm, which is nice for smokers and less so for non-smokers. That's why I didn't give it five stars.

The village is so quiet and peaceful, but the skypool lighting shines beyond the pool and up into the air above the Hotel. That light pollution spoils the atmosphere, and the extra lighting feels unnecessary.
