The prices are decent, so this is a good option for a casual dinner in Bezau. The Austrian food was good, especially the delicious Tafelspitz. The staff weren’t quite friendly, though.

We were delighted by the breakfast, with freshly made egg dishes, pastries, Caprese salad, Vitello Tonnato, and homemade jam. Our spacious renovated room had a modern Villeroy & Boch bathroom with a bathtub and rain shower. Just be aware that the ceiling is 1.95 meters high, which is typical in older buildings. We stayed two nights at Gasthaus Engel and really appreciated Petra Matt's hospitality. The facade has seen better days, but the inside is delightful and pleasantly surprised us. 5/5 stars, and a clear recommendation!

The service was rather unfriendly, so we skipped dessert and left early. The restaurant is centrally located and easy to get to. The portions were small to very small, and prices ranged from mid-range to high. The food was quite good, but nothing outstanding.

After a short break, the wonderful service is back, and the staff deserves 5 stars. We had dinner there twice during our holiday in Bezau, and the food quality was excellent. We’ll certainly be back next year.
