Sporthotel Kitz

We already pay plenty for half board, rooms and food, so charging extra for tap water at dinner feels petty and really changes the atmosphere. I want to enjoy a holiday without constantly watching my back to see where they might try to take advantage. It seems they’ve become more careful after the earlier review: I paid €3 for two glasses, when it sounded like the charge used to be €1.8.

We were a large group here for a week of skiing. The hotel is in the town centre, within walking distance of the train and ski bus. There are a few parking spaces out front and more about 150 m away. The rooms were clean, and the shower pressure was good. The temperature was warm or a bit cool depending on how many people were using it. Breakfast and dinner were good, with plenty of variety. Service was friendly but could improve. Dinner took an hour after everyone was seated, and the whole group had to be present before they would serve. We had to ask for napkins or toothpicks, and got just one each. Someone also commented that yogurt glasses shouldn’t be used because they were "difficult" to clean. The thing I especially disliked was paying 1.8€ for two glasses of tap water. Cheers, and four stars in the hope things improve.

A good place to stay, with lots of restaurants nearby, and good value for the money. The room was quiet and spacious, the bathroom well equipped, and there was a shared terrace, free WLAN and a complimentary bottle of sparkling mineral water. Breakfast was wonderful. A couple of things could be better: reception was usually empty, especially in the evenings. There’s a clock, but they take it away at night so it won’t wake the whole house. There also aren’t enough parking spaces for all the rooms. A free public lot is nearby, though, about a 200 m walk.

The location made it easy to relax and get between Kitzsteinhorn, Schmitten and Saalbach. It’s a cozy hotel with a real family feel, thanks to the staff, who were incredibly friendly and helpful.
