The clean, spacious room was a plus, and the food was fine, though nothing memorable. Still, I wouldn't recommend this place. The furnishings felt dated, and the staff seemed overwhelmed when we ordered just two drinks. Friendly service was rare. In my view, it doesn't live up to a 4-star rating, and there are much better choices nearby.

Our group had about 60 people, and the hotel can be booked for groups. Reception had plenty of information, and the hotel is close to the surrounding ski areas. There was a drying room for ski boots, plus a well-equipped wellness area. The rooms and beds were clean and comfortable, the food was good, and the staff were friendly.

The return of the bikes ended in an upsetting argument. After waiting about 15 minutes at reception, we finally got to speak with Mr. Hörhager, apparently the person responsible for billing, with help from someone who seemed to be a friend or relative. He demanded €25 per e-bike, €50 total. We said the deal had been €15 each for a half day, €30 altogether, and that we were returning them after about 6.5 hours, before the half-day period was over. He replied, visibly blushing, that there was no half-day rental. My wife pointed to the reception price list, which showed full-day and half-day rates for all bicycle types, including “E-bike half day €15.” Mr. Hörhager then exploded into a loud, vicious tirade aimed at us personally. We won't quote it here, but the insults were so extreme that even the Austrian Penal Code might blush. After more personal insults, including remarks about our nationality, he eventually accepted the €30 on the basis of the facts, though he continued insulting us, and called out more unpleasant words as we left. We were shocked by how intense and personal the abuse was. We've never had anything like this happen on holiday and hope not to experience it again. We also regret that the owner seemed to be trying to exploit us as tourists, something we'd associate more with package-tourism destinations farther south. We had hoped for better in beautiful Ebbs. We'd strongly advise against renting bicycles from the Hotel Postwirt, and against dealing with Mr. Hörhager. When irritated, it's hard to know what he might do. We also suggest reading the previous reviews about the accommodation and other services, and skipping the overly positive ones, which we suspect came from Austrian friends or relatives. Here's what happened: my wife and I rented two e-bikes for half a day, at the advertised price of €15 each. Mr. Hörhager himself handed us somewhat dirty bikes and helmets from the well-stocked bike shed, then disappeared as we were about to leave. We noticed both tires had extremely low pressure, which would have made riding difficult and dangerous for us and the bikes. Fortunately, there was a fairly good pump in the shed, and we quickly fixed the problem despite his absence. We then had a pleasant ride and met him at the hotel that afternoon to return the bikes, as arranged. We'd been out about 6.5 hours, well within the agreed half-day rental. The rooms were clean, with lovely views and typical local furnishings. The food was very good and the service friendly. It feels comfortable here.
