I stayed here on a school trip to Austria. Some of the other reviews seemed a bit extreme to me. Our room was really clean and good overall. The beds looked a little old, but were comfortable to sleep in. Every room has its own bathroom with a toilet, shower, and sink, and ours was great. The garden was fun, with a pool, football field, trampoline, and volleyball court. We had a great time playing volleyball together. I’d read a lot of comments about awful food, which worried me and some of my classmates, but it wasn’t as bad as people made out. The soup at the start of each meal was mostly bouillon and water, and the meals were decent overall. Not amazing, but you can’t expect one person to cook restaurant-quality food for 50 people. I’d recommend it for a large group if you’re not a picky eater.

The Wi-Fi was awful and the food was cheap. Some things in the rooms were odd or broken, like holes in the walls and leaking sinks. I guess you get what you pay for.

The food was decent, and the location is good for skiing.

The dinners were delicious, with good-sized portions and fresh vegetable salad every time. They also had alternatives for people with celiac disease or allergies. Breakfast was good too, with plenty to choose from and fresh fruit available throughout the day. We stayed for two nights with a group of students on half board. The hostel’s setting is lovely, and its location worked well for our planned trip. The rooms were clean, though the furnishings are older in some of them. A few rooms have newer furniture, but what we had was quite sufficient for the price. We appreciated being able to use the grounds and common spaces for activities. The owner was attentive, kind, and helpful, and took care of every request we made. We all felt comfortable during our stay. We were satisfied, and I think the accommodation works well for school excursions and student trips.

Lucy the dog made the stay a lot more enjoyable, and the owner was friendly, despite the way she’s sometimes described in reviews. We stayed in what felt like the worst room in the hostel, with six beds and a small shower. The showers themselves were excellent, and the other rooms looked clean. The beds could’ve been better, though I didn’t see any bugs on mine. The food wasn’t great, so I’d rate it 2.2/5. I’d heard a lot about food being served raw, but that wasn’t my experience. I did wake up with a stomach ache, though. I was nervous before arriving after reading the reviews about Hotel Steiner, but having stayed there, I’d give it 3 out of 5 stars as a place for school trips.
